Wolf Pack wraps up NAIA Championships Saturday

The Loyola Wolf Pack men’s and women’s swim teams had seven compete at the national championships this week

ELKHART, Ind. – The Loyola University New Orleans swim programs wrapped up the four-day NAIA National Championship swim meet on Saturday, as seven student-athletes represented the Wolf Pack. 
 

Action got started on Wednesday with a pair of relay races, as the men's 200-yard medley team placed 15th and the men's 800-meter freestyle team took 14th. 
 

On Thursday, Monty Moore-Yetter was the lone swimmer to compete in the evening finals, taking 15th in the NAIA with a time of 1:52.82 in the 200-yard IM. His swim of 1:52.70 in the morning preliminary event was a personal record. Alexandre Perfettini also swam a personal best in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:55.51, and Sergio Martínez Sanz broke his first of two program records in the morning 500-yard freestyle prelim with a time of 4:38.15. Emma Romero led the women's team with a 23rd-place finish in the 500-yard race with a time of 5:19.11. 
 

Another program record was broken on Friday in the 100-yard breaststroke, as Moore-Yetter reset his own record with a time of 55.88 to place 14th. Marínez Sanz also swam a personal best in the 200-yard freestyle, taking 28th in the NAIA with a time of 1:41.62. Romero was the only swimmer from the women's team to compete on Friday, finishing in 30th (2:00.56) in the 200-yard freestyle event. 
 

On Saturday, Romero swam a personal best in the 1,650-yard freestyle (18:14.07) in a 13th-place effort. Abbigail Chemacki also competed in the long-distance race, placing 23rd with a time of 18:47.66. On the men's side, Martínez Sanz added another program record, this time swimming a 16:29.20 in the 1,650-yard freestyle to take 19th place. Dylan Chehebar had a season-best time in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing in 18th place with a time of 1:52.79. Moore-Yetter competed in the evening finals in the 200-yard breaststroke, taking 13th place with a season-best time of 2:03.27.
