Wolf Pack swim hosts William Carey, West Florida Saturday

NEW ORLEANS – The Loyola University New Orleans men's and women's swim teams welcomed William Carey University and the University of West Florida to The Den on Saturday, as the Wolf Pack men went head-to-head with WCU, while the women swam in a tri-meet against both teams. 
 

The men lost their matchup with the Crusaders 129-97, and the women lost both head-to-heads to WCU (148-57) and West Florida (149-50). 
 

Freshmen Carter Ory and Shay Brunmeier registered Loyola's only two wins on the day. Ory won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.11, and Brunmeier swam a 2:03.53 to win the 200-yard backstroke. 
 

The Wolf Pack men's team had seven other individual second-place performances as well. Benjamin Chehebar placed second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.19), Hayden Sutton in the 100-yard backstroke (56.37), Jack McNamara in the 50-yard freestyle (21.93), Sergio Martínez Sanz in the 500-yard freestyle (4:55.33), Dylan Chehebar in the 100-yard butterfly (52.00), and Monty Moore-Yetter in the 100-yard breaststroke (58.29) and the 200-yard IM (2:01.77). 
 

The best result from the women's team came in the 1,000-yard freestyle, as Emma Romero placed second with a time of 11:08.81. Jossalin Lavicka and Catherine Streeter also beat out opponents for third place in the 200-yard freestyle and 50-yard freestyle with times of 2:05.39 and 26.51, respectively. 
 

The Wolf Pack swim teams will compete against William Carey again next week in Biloxi, Mississippi.
