Wolf Pack tennis teams both picked third in SSAC preseason poll

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced its SSAC Men's and Women's Tennis Coaches' Preseason Polls for the 2026-27 season on Monday, and both Loyola Wolf Pack tennis teams slotted in third out of seven teams. 

The Wolf Pack received 36 points in the men's poll and 33 in the women's poll to place third. William Carey took the top spot in both polls after winning both the regular season and tournament titles last season. Xavier, which previously won the SSAC women's tennis championship in 2021 as an affiliate member, officially joined the league in July and was voted second overall in this year's men's and women's polls.

Loyola's women's tennis team is coming off of a 10-8 season and a close loss to William Carey in the finals of last season's SSAC Championship final. The Wolf Pack men's team also made the final for the first time, losing to champion William Carey.

Both Loyola tennis teams are looking to build off of postseason success last year. At the 2026 NAIA National Championships, both Wolf Pack teams qualified, with the women's team reaching the quarterfinal round for the third straight season and the men's team winning a match at nationals for the first time. 

The Pack's fall tennis schedule begins later on in the semester, beginning with the Dillard Invitational on September 18.
