NEW ORLEANS – Former Loyola University New Orleans baseball standout Stephen Still has signed a professional contract with the Baltimore Orioles organization, adding to his legacy as one of the most decorated pitchers in Wolf Pack history. Baltimore announced the signing on Friday, and Still will join the organization's Single-A affiliate, the Delmarva Shorebirds, on Friday.Â
Â
"I'm super excited to be a part of the Orioles organization and thankful for this opportunity," Still said. "I want to thank God and my family for always being there and supporting me through this journey. A huge thanks to the (Tri-City) Valleycats and all my teammates who have helped me get here, and also so thankful for my time at Loyola with all my brothers, Coach Kennedy and Coach Bruce, who told me this could be a possibility when they recruited me."
Â
Still left Loyola as the program's all-time leader in wins (29), strikeouts (347), and career ERA (2.97), cementing his legacy as one of the premier pitchers in program history. During his four-year career with the Wolf Pack, the Baton Rouge native was a four-time All-Southern States Athletic Conference honoree while helping elevate Loyola into a perennial NAIA contender.
Â
"I couldn't be prouder of Stephen," Wolf Pack head baseball coach Jeremy Kennedy said. "He has gone out and earned the respect of the Orioles this opportunity the hard way. It's just another accomplishment to add to an already amazing career that includes playing a major role in getting our program where it is today. You can't turn a program around without a game-changer, and Stephen was more than a game-changer; he was a program-changer. I can't wait to see the next chapter of his baseball life with the Orioles."Â
Â
In his senior season, Still went 10-2 with a 3.42 ERA and 93 strikeouts across 84.1 innings pitched. His 10 wins tied a Loyola single-season record, while his strikeout total ranked among the best single seasons in program history — a list he already dominated after setting the school's single-season strikeout mark with 97 punch outs in 2023.
Â
Still's consistency on the mound defined his collegiate career. He earned All-Conference honors all four seasons, including three First Team selections, and finished among the NAIA leaders in several pitching categories throughout his career. He also played a key role in Loyola's rise on the national stage, delivering numerous standout performances in conference and postseason play.
Â
Still's final game in a Wolf Pack uniform was a good one, too. He struck out 13 batters in a complete-game performance against No. 14-ranked Bellevue (Neb.) in the NAIA national tournament.Â
Â
Following his Loyola career, Still continued pitching professionally in independent baseball, most recently with the Tri-City ValleyCats (N.Y.), before earning his opportunity with the Orioles organization. Still led the Frontier League in strikeouts, 18, through his first 11 innings over two starts to start the 2026 season. The left-hander also pitched for the Grand Junction Jackalopes (Colo.), an independent baseball team of the Pioneer League.Â
