GREENVILLE, ALA. – The Loyola University New Orleans women's golf team wrapped up the Southern States Athletic Conference Championship on Wednesday, and the Wolf Pack finished the 54-hole tournament in third place. Eighth-ranked Loyola had a tournament score of 961 (+97), and the team finished behind No. 2 Dalton State (+18) and No. 7 William Carey (+71).
After rounds of 75 (+3) and 74 (+2) this week, senior Sarah Meral improved her score again on Wednesday with a 73 (+1). She finished the tournament in third place with a three-round total of 222 (+6) to earn SSAC All-Tournament honors for the second year in a row. Her position on the individual leaderboard was the sixth career Top 5 finish, which ranks seventh in program history, and her 10th Top 10 placement, which is tied for seventh in program history.
Meral had an up-and-down start to her round, but a couple of birdies got her score to 1-over through five holes. After 11 straight pars, Meral had a bogey-birdie finish to complete her round.
Aaliyah Achary took ninth place for her sixth career Top 10 finish. She had a third-round score of 80 (+8) on Wednesday to bring her tournament total to 234 (+18). Catherine Singletary placed 19th (+33), and Evie Sisk took 25th (+46) after rounds of 83 and 84, respectively. Playing as a substitute, Johanna Haver shot an 80 (+8) on Wednesday to help Loyola's scoring.
