Wolf Pack begins LTU Spring Invitational Tuesday

OPELIKA, Ala. – The Loyola University New Orleans men's golf team had a solid first round at the LTU Spring Break Invitational, but against tough competition, the Wolf Pack is in sixth place out of 13 teams with two rounds left to play this week. Loyola had a team total of 302 (+14) on Tuesday, as No. 6 Dalton State leads the field with a 281 (-7) score. Loyola is just nine strokes out of second place behind No. 22 Point and Campbellsville (+5). 
 

The Top 7 golfers on the individual leaderboard all had under-par rounds, and the Top 12 were at least even-par or better. Cristobal Salome and Leon Mishkin lead the team with first-round scores of 74 (+2), and they are tied for 18th. 
 

Salome was 1-under through his first seven holes after a birdie on the No. 4 and six pars. A bogey on the par-3, eighth moved him to even-par after the front nine, then a birdie-double bogey on the 10th and 11th had him at 1-over. He'd go on to card six straight pars before finishing his round with another bogey on the 18th to get the sophomore to his 74 score. 
 

Mishkin was even through his first four holes before a 2-over finish to his front nine had the freshman at 2-over for his round. He'd sit at 4-over after 13 holes, then he got hot with a couple of birdies and three pars to close out his first-round 74. 
 

Cole Haase isn't too far behind his teammates in a tie for 28th after his round of 76 (+4), and Arsenios Kalogerakis is tied for 36th with a first-round 78 (+6).
