Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

(RV) Wolf Pack moves win streak to 15

Thursday’s result against Abraham Baldwin was never in doubt, as the Loyola women’s basketball team won its 15th straight game

NEW ORLEANS – The (RV) Loyola Wolf Pack women's basketball team had little drama on if they'll capture their 15th straight win on Thursday. The Wolf Pack dominated Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, 97-47, for another Southern States Athletic Conference win. Loyola is now 19-2 overall and 11-1 in SSAC play, and it'll host Thomas University (Ga.) in The Den at 12 p.m. on Saturday.

SeQuoia Carroll kick-started Loyola's scoring with a 3, and Alissa O'Dell scored six quick points to put Loyola up 11-8 early. Caitlin Travis scored the next five points for Loyola, including a 3-pointer, and Tiarra McPipe drained another 3, 21-13, a minute later. Neither team scored in the final 90 seconds of the frame, as the Wolf Pack led by 10, 23-13, after 10 minutes of play.

Loyola dominated the second quarter, outscoring ABAC 25-9 to take a 48-22 lead by halftime. The Wolf Pack spent nearly seven minutes of the quarter on a 15-3 run that saw six different Wolf Pack players score. Travis started that spree with an and-1, and Madi Walters hit a 3 quickly after that. Carroll, O'Dell and Chandler Caver also scored before Thornton converted an old-fashioned 3-point play to put the Pack up 20, 38-18, with two-minutes left in the first half. Thornton added five more points to extend the lead to 48-22 by the half.

The Wolf Pack continued to roll in the second half, pushing the score to 73-35 by the end of the third quarter. O'Dell led Loyola with seven points in the frame, and Ava Shields got on the board as well with a 3-pointer. Taylor Smith, Tiana Smith, Addison Luker and Kaylee Dublin all scored in the fourth quarter to give the Pack 12 scorers in the game.
