Loyola goes 3-1 at Huntingdon Beach Bash

MONTGOMERY, Ala. –  The Loyola Wolf Pack beach volleyball team finished up the Huntingdon Beach Bash on Saturday with two more matches against NCAA Division-III opponents. 

After dealing with rain delays, the Wolf Pack (3-1) started the day with a 3-1 loss against Berry College before bouncing back with a 3-0 sweep of LaGrange College in the afternoon. 

Samantha Guillotte and Kiarelis Martinez continued an impressive weekend as the Wolf Pack's No. 2 pair, winning a tight three-setter 22-20, 17-21, 16-14 against Berry before dominating their second matchup to finish the tournament 4-0. They were Loyola's only win against Berry, though Kala Emanuelli and Madeline Corrall were up a set on court 1 before the match was decided. 

Loyola was without a regular in the lineup in Juliet Petruzelli on Saturday, leading to a few new pairings and some old ones returning. After going 15-6 last year, Amaya Bazemore and Isabella Rodrigue picked up where they left off as the No. 4 pair against LaGrange, winning 21-17, 21-23, 15-7. Clarissa Dupree joined Gabrielle Casino at flight 5, and the pair didn't take long to settle into a rhythm, falling in the first set 21-13 but winning the next two 21-12, 15-6. 

Loyola will begin the Sun Conference schedule next weekend in a road trip to Ave Maria, Florida. Conference play kicks off with the Wolf Pack against Florida Memorial on Friday, Feb. 27, at 12 p.m. EST, followed by a match against Ave Maria University at 4 p.m. EST.
