Lee wins SSAC Offensive Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – Loyola Wolf Pack men's basketball guard Zachary Lee earned his first Southern States Athletic Conference weekly award on Monday, as the redshirt junior was named the SSAC Offensive Player of the Week. 
 

The last two SSAC Offensive Players of the Week have now been Loyola players, as Kameron Johnson won last week in addition to Lee's award this week. While Lee was the 2024 SSAC Championship MVP, this is the redshirt junior's first conference weekly award. 
 

After a quadruple overtime win two weeks ago against Xavier, the Wolf Pack played another game with multiple extra periods against SUNO last Monday, winning 96-95 in double overtime over the Knights. Lee had a career-best scoring performance in the contest, pouring in 26 points while shooting 9-of-15 from the field and 17-of-22 from the free-throw line with one three-pointer. He also logged six assists, five rebounds, and two steals.  
 

Lee scored in double figures in all three games last week, with 11 points coming in a blowout win over Louisiana Christian and 12 points, eight rebounds in a close 88-84 loss against No. 14 LSU Alexandria. He's reached at least 11 points in each of the last five games after scoring eight points in the season opener. 
 

The Mansfield, Texas native is the Wolf Pack's leader in both scoring and rebounding through the first six games of the season. He's averaging 18.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, and he's second on the team in assists (16) and steals (11) thus far. Lee also currently ranks third in the NAIA in free throw makes, going 45-of-63 at the stripe in six games. 
 

Loyola is back in New Orleans this week for a rematch against Xavier on Tuesday. The game is set for 7:30 p.m. at the XULA Convocation Center. The Wolf Pack then will begin the SSAC schedule with a road tilt against William Carey on Saturday.
