Guillotte named SSAC Championship MVP, three total honored Sunday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – A day after the Loyola Wolf Pack claimed the program's first-ever SSAC Championship title, three members of the team were honored on the All-Tournament, including Samantha Guillotte being named the Most Valuable Player. Clarissa Dupree and Alexa Palmer also represented the Pack on the seven-member team. 
 

Guillotte racked up 72 kills in Loyola's five matches at the championship, including a career-high 24 kills in the first match of the weekend against Point University. She hit .391 during that performance, then followed that up with 18 more kills with a .500 hit percentage against William Carey later in the day. Guillotte had seven more kills against Life University in the final game of pool play, and 11 attacks and three blocks in Loyola's semifinal win over Blue Mountain Christian. In the title match against Mobile, the Mobile, Alabama, native added 12 more kills and three more blocks. 
 

Palmer and Dupree both led the Wolf Pack with 13 kills each in the championship match against the Rams. 
 

Dupree had double-digit kills in all five tournament matches, including a career-high 15 kills in the tournament-opener against Point. Her four kills in the fifth set of that match were a big reason why the Wolf Pack were able to win it, too. Dupree posted a match-high 14 kills with a .444 hit percentage in the semifinal win as well, and finished the week with 63 total kills on a .293 hit percentage. 
 

Palmer also earned a new career-high with 17 kills against William Carey in pool play, as she also collected 63 total kills throughout the tournament while hitting .304. The Gulfport, Mississippi, native had 13 kills against Point, 12 against BMCU and eight against Life to help the Wolf Pack go undefeated at the SSAC Championship.
