ROME, Ga. – The Loyola Wolf Pack women's tennis program was represented by two graduate students, Avery Frierson and Adele Fereres, at this weekend's 2025 ITA Cup. Played at the Rome Tennis Center, the ITA Cup is the small college individual championships for NCAA Divisions II and III, the NAIA, and JUCO levels from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Fereres and Frierson earned an at-large selection into the tournament after being finalists at the 2025 ITA Gulf Regional Championships, where they narrowly fell in a third set super tiebreak to the Xavier University tandem of McKenna Wheatley and Maja Brnic in the final.

The Wolf Pack duo started off the ITA Cup on a high note, reaching the tournament quarterfinals with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Marian University (Ind.)'s senior team of Yasmin Imamniyazova and Ana Lopez Torres. Fereres and Frierson joined Lucy Carpenter as the only Wolf Pack players to advance to the quarterfinal round at the ITA Cup.

Loyola's Round of 16 win set up a rematch of the ITA Regional final against Xavier's Wheatley and Brnic, who entered the tournament as the fourth overall seed. Once again, the matchup featured a tiebreak, but Xavier's team won it 7-2 to wrest momentum and ride it to a 6-1 win in set 2 to knock the Pack out of the main draw.

The final match for the grad students at the Rome Tennis Center was against Lindsey Wilson College's seniors Martina Cortal and Mayra Gisone, who prevailed 6-3, 6-2 in the match.

The fall schedule is now completed, as the Wolf Pack looks ahead to the 2026 spring season.

Head Coach Matt Llewellyn

"We're really proud of Avery and Adele for the fall season they put together. They exemplified our core values and represented Loyola with class every match.

These two seniors have helped build one of the top programs in NAIA tennis. They deserved to be in Rome and play the nation's best. We can't wait to get back to New Orleans and train incredibly hard to prepare for the spring season."
