LOUDON, Tenn. – The Loyola Wolf Pack women's golf team traveled to Loudon, Tennessee, this week to take part in the Faulkner Eagle Match Play Invitational. Playing at Tennessee National, the 10th-ranked Wolf Pack was slated as the No. 2 seed in the tournament and matched up with No. 7-seed Tennessee Wesleyan in the quarterfinal round to begin the tournament. 
 

Loyola handled TWU to advance in the tournament, moving on to face No. 3-seed Milligan in the semifinals. However, that round was not able to finish on Monday, resuming Tuesday morning before the third and final round begins later in the day. 
 

Catherine Singletary, Lainey Cristan and Kaitlyn Montoya won their matches with sizable differences from their counterparts, as Singletary won 7UP and Cristan and Montoya each won 6UP to give the Pack the edge. Singletary won the first six holes over her opponent, setting the freshman up for an easy first-round win, and Montoya and Cristan each had fantastic second nine holes to pull away from their competitors. Emma Smithers won a close matchup with her opponent, breaking a tie on the 16th hole to win a close contest 1UP, and Blair McKenzie never trailed in her match but tied her TWU matchup. 
 

In the semifinals, before play was stopped, Singletary and McKenzie claimed wins for the Wolf Pack while Milligan got one point to make it a 2-1 Loyola lead with two groups still on the course. Smithers and Montoya still need to finish, as Smithers is 2DOWN with three to play and Montoya is all-square with her opponent with three to play as well.
